- Love her or hate her, Jillian Michaels is a tough chick. Tough, inspirational, and aspirational. I have heard great things about her 30 Day Shred program, which promises to help you lose 20 pounds in 30 days by completing a 20-minute interval workout. Each of the three workouts combines short bursts of strength, cardio, and abs. There is no rest between each short burst of exercise, which is part of why the results happen so quickly and, supposedly, get the promised results. After one workout, I was definitely sweaty, gasping for air, and sore the next day. All signs of a successful workout, in my book!
- Have you guys tried planking? I’m not talking about that stupid trend, but that pretty bad ass, ab blasting workout. I’m practicing the 1 minute (or more) Plank-A-Day movement on Twitter, which you can follow with the hash tag #plankaday. You can also follow my attempts by following me @MandaKayMakesIt. Seriously, this simple pose will kick you butt!
- I’ll be posting a lot about the running program I’m doing, Couch to 5K, designed to get you off the couch and running a 5K in just nine weeks. As someone who never imagined herself a runner, let me tell you that this program (so far) is incredibly doable and super fun!
- It’s still kind of the trend du jour, but I really love spin class. You work up a great sweat and get such a good calorie burn. Plus there’s good music, my gym dims the lights in the studio, and you’re with a bunch of other people struggling just like you. What’s better?
